"In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxOrenda where x = independently organized TED event. At TEDxOrenda TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized." 
"Amplified is essentially a 'Network of Networks'. It uses the burgeoning connectivity afforded by social networking tools to link different groups of people together. To this end an educationally-themed Amplified event, or 'AmplifiED' as we have decided to call it, is our opportunity to bring together different groups of people together no matter what their involvement may be in the field of education. Whether working with the youngest members of our society in nurseries, through schools, colleges, universities and on into the University of the Third Age, all have something to bring to the party. It is our hope that AmplifiED will give people from these backgrounds the chance to celebrate the work they do and ask challenging & provoking questions which could ultimately lead to changes in society."
